Speak Out helps students turn ideas into clear messages, practice speaking with purpose, and connect their voice to service. It can support learning, student leadership, and confidence-building without requiring students to be experienced public speakers.
Students shape their ideas into a clear, organized speech through planning, drafting, and revision.
Students practice presenting to a real audience in a supportive, student-centered setting.
Students reflect on how small acts of service can strengthen communities and create harmony.
Students learn that leadership can begin with sharing an idea clearly and respectfully.
Students are supported throughout the process. Educators, youth leaders, parents, students, and Lions Clubs can reach out to the NH Lions Speak Out committee, and we will help connect interested students with a participating local Lions Club or contest opportunity.
1. Express Interest
An interested student, small group, class, homeschool group, or youth program can begin by letting an educator, parent, youth leader, or local Lions Club know they would like to participate.
2. Connect with a Local Contest
Students may participate through a local Lions Club contest or approved local contest opportunity. If a student does not already have a club connection, the NH Lions Speak Out committee can help identify one.
3. Prepare the Speech
Students prepare a speech responding to the statewide topic:
“How can young people use small acts of service to create harmony?”
4. Present and Advance
Students present at a local contest first. Local winners may advance to the statewide contest at the Mid-Winter Convention in January.
Email and we will help connect you with the right next step.
