FOR PARENTS & FAMILIES
The NH Lions Speak Out Speech Contest gives New Hampshire students ages 13–19 who are not yet in college a meaningful opportunity to build confidence, practice communication skills, and share their perspective on service in their community.
Public speaking can feel intimidating, but Speak Out gives students a supportive way to practice. Students do not need to be experienced speakers. They need their own perspective, a willingness to prepare, and encouragement from the adults around them.
Students practice organizing their thoughts and speaking clearly.
Students gain experience sharing ideas with a real audience.
Students explore how small acts of service can make a difference.
Encourage interest
Ask your student what they think about this year’s topic.
Help them connect
Reach out to a teacher, local Lions Club, or the NH Lions Speak Out committee.
Support practice
Listen as they practice and help them feel prepared.
Email NHLionsspeakout@gmail.com and we will help connect your student with the right next step.
